(Forgive her messy hair; she'd just come home from swimming at Girl Scout camp!)
As you can see in this picture, Shirley has also cleverly included a place-holder snap in her flower sets. This is a snap covered in felt, meant for placement on the middle snap when a larger flower is in use, to keep the empty "male" snap from showing though the flower. Brilliant! I received two such place-holders. They are very sturdy and strong; even though my girls have put the Swirleys system through a great deal of use in the week that we have been trying them out, nothing has shown any signs of wear and tear.
All three of us (Sophia, Chloë and I) have been wearing the Swirleys headbands extensively over the last week. We all prefer the satin headbands over the crocheted ones, but for different reasons. Sophia likes that they are shiny and smooth. (Hey, she's five, y'all.) Chloë insists they are much more comfortable. I agree with both their reasons, and also, they look more professional to me and have a Swirleys label sewn in that I like.
I wore the satin headband for hours and hours one night, and although most headbands (even soft ones like these) quickly give me a headache, I didn't have any such problems with the Swirleys band. I even wore my Swirleys headband and flower out in the middle of the night for a late-night Coke run to 7-Eleven, and I was quite the stylin' mama! Hee.
Maybe I'll just have to pick up one of these cute little handbags that are also part of the Swirleys system! This one is on sale today, as part of Shirley's half-price birthday sale going on all month. (Today is Shirley's birthday; happy birthday, Shirley!)
Another fun part of the Swirleys system is the business card holder, shown above. A Forget-Me-Not attaches to the front and can be switched out with other ones. How fun!
I really like the Swirleys system of flowers and headbands, and I definitely plan to add to the girls' collection of flowers in the future. Chloë, my little girly-girl, especially loves to choose the flower that matches each day's outfit; even tomboy Sophia has fun switching out all the flowers and will occasionally let me get a headband on her. (I wish she'd keep them on; they look so pretty on her!)
Sophia modeling the Big Bloom in red, white and blue - guess what was worn yesterday, for Independence Day??
