Giveaway and Review: Jewelry from Rainbow's End

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATULATIONS, KARLA T.!

NEWSFLASH: In an effort to "stimulate the economy," Donna has slashed all the prices on her jewelry! Come see her new, lowered prices!

Today's review and giveaway come to you courtesy of Donna from the Etsy shop Rainbow's End, all the way from my husband's home state of Missouri!

Donna sent me two pieces of her handmade jewelry for review purposes, including this beautiful "handflower," which I just love! My hands are quite small, so the handflower is too big on me, but that hasn't stopped me from wearing it whenever I'm sitting here typing. It doesn't get in the way at all, and I keep stopping to admire it! It may end up as a giveaway piece down the road, since I can't really wear it due to the size... we'll see if I can part with it! ;)  You can find your own handflowers in the Rainbow's End shop for $15 each.

My nearly-9yo daughter, Chloë, is the necklace model this time. I just couldn't get a decent picture of myself wearing the one Donna sent for review, so Chloë stepped up. I wore the necklace singly on my own, but I like it doubled on her tiny neck. So pretty!

About this necklace, Donna says, "The necklace has one of the things I SELDOM use - plastic. The white "pearl" beads are what I call, enameled plastic. They were just too cool for me to pass up. So, I used them. They are strung with green Freshwater Pearls, Vintage, gold filigree beads which are a really cool, cubed shape. Pulling it all together are some really cute little salmon-color enameled seed beads. I really like the way it all came together."

Me too, Donna, thank you!!

Like many of Donna's pieces, the necklace has a toggle clasp, which I think is my favorite kind. So easy to get on, so difficult to lose, because it won't accidentally unhinge.

So now, let's take a look at a few items YOU could choose if you won the $25 gift certificate to Rainbow's End!

Also selling for $15 each are footflowers, similar to the handflowers. I may have to get one of these. I just love the look! Are you a fan?

In the Natural Stones section of her shop, you can find this Amber Lozenge necklace. It's so pretty! It sells for $24.

In the Vintage Glass section, this vintage Glass Pearl and Goldstone Necklace sells for just $21!

In the mood to dress up your ears? Rainbow's End carries lots of beautiful earrings, including these Purple Sparkle Glitz Earrings ($10), these Pink Baubles Earrings ($10) and these Blue Egg Earrings ($8)!

I just LOVE this Garnet and Pewter Bracelet ($13) and this Cranberry and Gold one ($15)!

Check out the "Gender Friendly" section for some items the dude in your life could wear, including this Tortoise Shell Necklace! ($21)

For only $24, this lovely Red Coral Necklace can be yours!

So have a look all around Rainbow's End to see what you'd pick if you're the big winner!

WIN IT!!

To win a $25 Gift Certificate to Rainbow's End, please visit the shop on Etsy and then comment back here with what you'd choose if you won. (Be sure to show some while you're there!) It's that simple! This is required and must be done before any additional entries will count.

Aloha Friday #5

Aloha Friday is brought to you by Kailani from Island Life. Link 'em up if you're playing along today!

My question for you this week is:

Should we keep all the extra, optional, entries for each giveaway? Or should we keep it to one (possibly two, with following the blog being another entry) per person so everyone is on equal footing?

It doesn't matter to me! I just want all your input so I can give you the best blog possible. Thanks!

Giveaway and Review: Lampwork Bead Necklace from Tantra Beads

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATULATIONS, SUSAN M.!!

Today's giveaway comes to you from Kristina in the UK, and her Etsy shop Tantra Beads.

You were missing my neck, weren't you? Wanted to see it again? Well, here it is again for your viewing pleasure! This time, it is being adorned with a $140 USD necklace from Tantra Beads, which was created especially for this giveaway! Isn't it beautiful??

The beads consist of a special type of reactive glass called Double-Helix Triton, which, when in a reduction flame produces a wonderful metallic finish.  That's what Kristina tells me. All I know is, this necklace is heavy on my chest; there will be absolutely no chance of your losing it and not being aware that it's missing! It is a substantial piece and truly a treasure. I will miss it when it leaves my hands!

Kristina also used a plastic-coated silver wire to prevent discoloration, and solid silver crimps, crimp corners and clasp.

I'd love for you to check out Tantra Beads and see what else is in the shop. There are a few pieces of already-made jewelry, including this beautiful Daisy Chain Bracelet, or you can buy the beads and make your own jewelry yourself! Also, Kristina will be happy to make your jewelry for you; just send her a "convo"!

In need of a focal bead for your jewelry? Check out this section of the shop, where you can find this lovely red one, among others. Beauty!

If you need more lampworked beads for your project, check out this section where the beads come in sets of five. There is a stunning array of colors and designs, or you can make a special request.

I love these beads from the Pandora-style Charm Beads section, with their frosty finish. Amazing talent!  Makes me want to take up jewelry-making on the spot, how 'bout you?

Giveaway and Review: Plumeria Beach Bag from Original Satin Doll

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATULATIONS, LAURA!!

Today's giveaway is sponsored by Eco at the Etsy shop Original Satin Doll.

For review purposes, Eco sent me this Plumeria Beach Bag from her shop. I loved it instantly, as soon as I received it. It is durable and extremely well made. It's also substantially larger than I expected; it truly is a beach bag that can carry everything you need to get to the beach!

I had used the Plumeria bag around town as a carry-all a few times, but I really didn't need that much space for a purse. Not by a long shot. So I was glad for Monday, when I finally had a chance to get to the beach and put this great bag to use!  (Unfortunately, I forgot my 'real' camera and was stuck taking iPhone pix, but I think you can see what you need to see well enough, right?)

The bag was a workhorse at the beach! I stuffed four large beach towels, a magazine, my phone and hairbrush (in the two inside pockets perfectly-sized for such things) and a few small odds and ends, plus some of the kids' beach toys. And I could have carried more, if I had needed to do it. There was absolutely no sign of strain on the bag, and it was great-looking, to boot.

In short, I this bag!!

You can win one, too - the exact one I have. It's a $60 value and worth every penny of that!

Check out the shop for more great beach bags here!

Also, if you're a mama with a wee babe, be sure and check out this Baby Bag department. The bags look amazing! I would definitely have picked out this one if I was still in those days, myself.

Or maybe this one? You know I like my fish, right? ;)

In any case, be sure and look through Original Satin Doll for what will definitely be a top-quality and stylish bag. Check back in late August for an all-new line of handbags, clutches and evening bags!

WIN IT!!

To win this bodacious beach bag from Original Satin Doll, please visit the shop on Etsy and then comment back here with your favorite item in the shop. (Be sure to show some while you're there!) It's that simple! This is required and must be done before any additional entries will count.

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATULATIONS, SASKIA!

Today's giveaway comes all the way to you from Israel, from the Etsy shop Orly Design!

This beautiful necklace will become the prize of the winner, who can be anywhere in the world.  It can be worn as a necklace or bracelet, and is a one-of-a-kind. The ceramic flower "grows" off the round metal base.  The beautiful color of the pendant comes from pieces of glass, and the turquoise center will ward off the evil eye, according to folklore.

Here's one way the necklace can be worn. I love the clasp in front, very cool.

Also, to celebrate this giveaway, Orly is giving my blog readers 20% off any of the items in her jewelry department, just for mentioning Fishing and Wishing in your order. But hurry! When the giveaway ends, so does the sale!

If I were me, I might take advantage of the special offer and pick up this beautiful hair comb. I haven't worn a comb in years, but this just might be the ticket!

Also, though it's not part of the sale, I had to show you a couple more of my favorite pieces from Orly Design. She has a wedding department, and look at this gorgeous lovebird cake topper! What a unique idea that would be for a special wedding!

And in her home décor department, I'm loving this chained-together set of votive holders. What a cool idea! (And, I love orange, which is what drew me to this picture. Just sayin'.)

WIN IT!
